Inserting a FileLinker file into OneNote
Pasting the FileLinker file can be done in two ways:
- Via the clipboard
- As a file
Via the clipboard
This requires that you have already copied a FileLinker file to the clipboard.
Position the mouse pointer at the desired location in your OneNote page where you want to paste the FileLinker file.
Select the Paste command (Ctrl+V) to paste the FileLinker file at that position.
Insert the FileLinker file using the Insert File option.
OneNote for Windows 10 offers two types of insertion.
Insert as attachment (recommended).
With this option, the FileLinker file becomes a part of the notebook. Since the FileLinker file has a very small size, the integration has no particular effect on the overall size of the notebook.
Upload to OneDrive and insert link
This option uploads the FileLinker file to OneDrive in your OneNote upload folder. In your OneNote notebook, a link is also inserted only. The disadvantage here is that the FileLinker file must be re-downloaded from your OneDrive space each time you open it in order to run it. This functionality is identical to how the Documents section of Sharepoint works.
As a file
This requires that you have created a FileLinker file.
Position the mouse pointer at the desired location in your OneNote page where you want to insert the FileLinker file.
Select the Insert File command in your application to insert the FileLinker file at that position.
The further steps are identical to the insertion via the clipboard (see chapter 3.1.).
